The other day a friend of mine called me with much anxiety in her voice. I had to calm her down and wait for her to take a deep breath before she could speak. Apparently, she had noticed some discharge coming from her genital area and did not know what it was or what to do. That kind of freaked her out and she was too embarrassed to tell anyone else.
I calmed her down and asked certain questions such as:
1. When did she notice it?
2. What color was it?
3. Did it smell?
4. Is she itching?
5. Is it painful during urination?
6. Did she call the doctor to make an appointment?
7. Was she on any antibiotics?
After she answered those questions, I was able to tell that she had a yeast infection. Even though, I was not a physician, I had had too many yeast infections in the past myself to not know what it was and what yeast infection symptoms were.
